Ernest Arthur Frank was born at Seaton Carew on July 19th, 1896, and baptised at Holy Tinity Church, Seaton Carew, on August 9th of that year.
His parents, William Mitchell (a Sailor), and Mary Frank (nee Wilkinson), were both born at Seaton Crew (although the 1911 Census states he was born at Ruswarp, N. Yorkshire), and were married on January 1st, 1883 at Holy Trinity Church, Seaton Carew. At this time William's father (also named William), is also listed as a Sailor, and Mary's father as a Groom.
The 1911 Census shows William, now a Ship Painter, and Mary living at No.28, Cornwall Street, West Hartlepool, with their four children, Anthony (aged 21, House Painter, single), Ernest (now aged 14, and an Apprentice Joiner at a local sawmill), Thomas Norman (aged 12), and Percy (aged 8).
Ernest was not married at the time of his death.
