Arthur was baptised 6th August 1903, All Saints, Stranton, the son of William and Emma Brown.
In 1911 the Browns were living at 2 Bedwas Street , Grangetown, Cardiff . Arthur’s father William Brown is 43, a Dry Dock Labourer born Lauraston, Scotland (there are a few Laurastons in Scotland with varying spelling) William’s wife Emma is 32 and born Northampton . There are six children. William George aged 10 and Arthur aged 8 born West Hartlepool, then Charlie 5, Louisa 3, Emma 1 year and 7 months and Winnie 4 months all born Cardiff, Wales.
William Brown married Emily Snape in Hartlepool in 1900. In 1901 they were living at 58 Cumberland Street, West Hartlepool . William Brown is a Shipyard Labourer, aged 33 born Scotland and Emily is 23 born Northampton . Also living with the Browns is Arthur Snape, described as brother (should strictly be brother-in-law) aged 21, a Shipyard Labourer, born Northampton .
From the 1901 and 1911 Census Emma/Emily was born c1879 in Northampton Arthur Snape her brother was on the 1881 with his parents William and Harriett Snape and a sister named Emma aged 3. Also found the baptism of both Emma and Arthur on the same day (15th January 1881) at All Saints, Northampton . So Emma was baptised as Emma but seems to have used the name Emily for her marriage and on the 1901 census.
