At the time of Charles Bertie's death, his parents are recorded as living at No.49, Thornton Street, West Hartlepool. Charles Bertie Sparke’s Probate record gives the same address of 49 Thornton Street, West Hartlepool . Administration was granted 14th April 1917 to Charles John Sparke, Grocers Assistant. Effects £224.15s 8d.
Charles was killed on West Hartlepool ship SS Wathfield when she was hit by a submarine en route to Malta carrying a cargo of magnesite. His name is on the Tower Hill
