George Parker was the son of John William Parker and his wife Meggie, nee Hall. The couple, both natives of Hartlepool, had been married in the town in 1896. George was the second oldest of 6 children, the youngest Margaret being the only girl.
John William's father had been born in Sussex, married a Hartlepool girl and was a staith master. Meggie's parents had also been born in Hartlepool.
George was a signaller with the Royal Navy on HMS Clio and was killed in 1917. His mother was informed of his death and he was buried at sea.
