				Thomas Allison Hall was born in Heaton Newcastle on 3rd July 1892 to Timothy Hall of Hexham and his wife Hannah(nee Walker) a native of Whitby.
Timothy in 1891 was a policeman living in Newcastle, by 1901, he was a police sergeant with the railway, and by 1911 a police inspector.
There were 5 children, Gertrude,Norah.Thomas himself,Catherine and John. The first three were born in Newcastle and the last two in Durham. In 1911, Thomas was an apprentice fitter and the family were living at 1 Station Houses, Back Church St West Hartlepool.
Thomas was killed in action on HMS Cressy on 22nd September 1914 which was torpedoed by submarine U9 in the North Sea with a loss of 560 lives. Two sister ships alongside also met this fate and a total of 1397 lives were lost. His parents at the address at Station Houses were informed of his death.
