The 1871 Census shows Thomas (now aged 5), living at No.32, Warren Street, Hartlepool, with his parents and 3-year old sister Mary Ann. Also in the house at this time are two Boarders, Thomas Horton(?), an Ironworks Labourer, aged 59, and Ann Stevenson, aged 64.
Thomas' mother, then living at No.3, Tyne Street, Hartlepool, is listed as the Relative Notified of his death, and Thomas was laid to rest at Gillingham (Woodlands) Cemetery.
