On a voyage from Malaga for Huelva in ballast Jacinto sank after a collision with the British steamer Author eight miles SE of Gibraltar on 31 March 1927. The Author landed six of the crew & the master at Gibraltar. The destroyer Winchelsea went in search of the missing crew.
