After leaving Baltimore on a voyage for Rio Grande do Sul with a cargo of coal Loyal Citizen sent distress signals from off the coast of Bermuda on 14 September 1926. She was not heard from again. 30 lives were lost. Master John H.C. Crocker.

Loyal Citizen left Baltimore on 8 September 1926 on a voyage for Rio Grande do Sul with a cargo of coal & a crew of 30. She sent wireless messages of distress from off the coast of Bermuda in 31.18N/67.00W on 14 September 1926 saying that the crew were about to leave in their lifeboats because their vessel had been badly damaged in a hurricane. The Dutch steamer Den Haag saw a lifeboat & wreckage in the vicinity of the missing ship. She was posted as missing in November 1926.
