Mined and sunk in the Baltic Sea on 20th August, 1914. The ship was on a voyage from St. Petersburg to Rotterdam in ballast. 13 lives were lost including the 1st engineer & his wife.

As an illustration of the truly global nature of shipbuilding, these ships were owned by companies from 22 different countries, including more than 30 sailing under the German flag at the outbreak of war.
