Fate

The British Steamer Empress sank 5 miles off Withernsea Ligh Vessel, on July 31st, 1917, after striking a mine laid by the German submarine UC-63. The ship was on a vaoyage from Newcastle to Southend (for orders), with a cargo of coal. Five lives were lost. Master - A. Armstrong
