The Atlantic Hotel was in Surtees Street Hartlepool and it opened in 1865. It was delicenced in 1955.

In 1870, Charles Blondin walked a tightrope from the Atlantic to the nearby Market roof in Lynn Street carrying the 5 year old son of the landlord. (from The Lion Roars and the Monkey Bites by Marie-Louise McKay)
