In convoy SL-81 on a voyage from Port Harcourt for Freetown & Hull with a cargo of tin, ore, groundnuts & kernels & a total complement of 50 Belgravian was torpedoed by German submarine U-372 (Heinz-Joachim Neumann) & sank west of Ireland on 5 August 1941. 47 survivors, including the master, were picked up by HMS Bluebell& landed at Gourock. Master Richard Sanderson Kearon. Two hands were lost.
