Fate
Anchored north of Uman in the Carolina Islands Unkai Maru was attacked by Grumman Avenger dive bombers from the USS Essex then by planes from Yorktown & USS Bunker Hill. The following day she was again attacked from the USS Essex & she sank in 7.25N/151.45E on 17 February 1944.
