On 28 October 1906 Harlingen left Buenos Aires on a voyage for Port Eads, USA in ballast she ran aground on rocks in thick fog near Cape Frio, South Brazil on 9 November 1906. She later slipped off the rocks & sunk becoming a total loss. The loss was attributed to default by the Master, J. Johnson, & his certificate was suspended for three months. The steamship was valued at £30,000.
